SLEvA was established in 1999 to address a long felt need for developing establishment
of an evaluation culture in Sri Lanka. SLEvA membership includes a wide cross-section of
professionals from academia, international agencies, non-governmental agencies, public and
SLEvA is institutionalized as a Voluntary Service Organization and registered as a Non
Governmental Organisation under the Ministry of Social Services. SLEvA is governed by its
Constitution and its Executive Council is selected biennially at an Annual General Meeting.
The objective of the establishment of SLEvA was to promote an evaluation culture as an
integral element in the development process of Sri Lanka

Recognizing that 2015 is the year when the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) will be replaced by a new set of internationally agreed goals, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), SLEvA joins hands with the International Year of Evaluation 2015 to mark the year.
